Jaime & Nair is the recording debut of the couple formed by guitarist Jaime Alem, born in Franca (SP) in 1952, and singer Nair Cândia, born in Jacareí that same year. The two emerged from a circle of musicians from Jacareí who later settled in Rio; Nair, who came from festivals in Vale do Paraíba and dance orchestras, moved to the city in 1971 and began taking part in recording sessions. Jaime, a self-taught musician who studied harmony with Guerra-Peixe, composed music for the theater, including the score for Pluft, o Fantasminha at Tablado. The LP was released by CID in 1974, and the duo would record together again in 1979.
