THE BAND

The group emerged in São Paulo in 1972, still under the name Tobruk, bringing together André Barbosa Filho (who used the name Brian Anderson) on vocals and guitar, Marc Mane on organ, Ricky Taylor on bass and keyboards, and Billy Rogers on drums. A contractual clause required them to sing in English. "Tell Me Once Again" appeared on the soundtrack of Uma Rosa com Amor, a Globo soap opera, drove sales of the 1973 LP One Way, and led the band to perform throughout Latin America; years later, the melody received Portuguese lyrics as "Calúnias", recorded by Ney Matogrosso and the band João Penca e Seus Miquinhos Amestrados. In all, the discography comprises two LPs and eight singles.
