THE BAND
A native of Rio de Janeiro, Luiza Maria Camargo Xavier studied singing with Fernanda Gianetti and debuted in 1975 with Eu Queria Ser um Anjo, released by Philips. Produced by Sérgio de Carvalho, the album featured Jim Capaldi, Lulu Santos, Rick Ferreira, Arnaldo Brandão, and Gustavo Schroeter among its musicians, as well as a collaboration between Luiza, Paulo Coelho, and Rick Ferreira. It did not sell at the time but gained a reputation over the years. Luiza continued as a vocalist in concerts by Tim Maia and Ivan Lins, placed songs on Globo and film soundtracks, all written with Sérgio Natureza, and released the CD Tarântula in 1993.
