THE BAND
Luiz Carlos Porto and Antônio Fernando Vale, o Gordo, began as a duo in Ceará and took the song O Pente to the 1972 Festival Internacional da Canção in Rio. Wikipedia dates the group's founding to 1971 in Fortaleza; the Dicionário Cravo Albin places the band's formation in Rio in 1974. After the duo broke up, Porto joined American guitarist Gabriel O'Meara, pianist Constant Papineau and bassist Carlos Scart. They played at Hollywood Rock in 1975 and, in July, released Em Busca do Tempo Perdido on Polydor, poised between blues and rock. They stopped performing at the end of the decade; in 1984, Porto reassembled the group solely for live shows, with no new records.
