Som Imaginário

THE BAND

Som Imaginário was formed in Rio de Janeiro to accompany Milton Nascimento: Wagner Tiso brought together colleagues from the dance circuit, including Luiz Alves, Zé Rodrix, Robertinho Silva and Tavito, and the show with Milton premiered in 1970 at Teatro Opinião. Later, during a residency at the Sucata nightclub, guitarist Fredera joined. The collection holds the second LP, also titled Som Imaginário, released by Odeon in 1971, by then without Rodrix, with Fredera on vocals and songs such as Cenouras, in a more radical vein of psychedelia than the first album. Matança do Porco followed in 1973, almost entirely instrumental and dominated by Tiso’s compositions. The group lasted until 1976 and returned to the stage in the early 2010s.
