THE BAND

Formed in Rio in 1964, the group began as The Fenders and adopted its definitive name in 1965. It made its debut with a single on Philips and moved to Odeon, the label of this LP, in 1966, becoming one of the central groups of the Jovem Guarda, Brazil’s 1960s rock’n’roll wave. In the studio, the band accompanied recordings by Roberto and Erasmo Carlos, Eduardo Araújo, Golden Boys, Trio Esperança and Jorge Ben, often without credit. In 1968 it was voted the best dance band, scored a hit in 1971 with Mar de Rosas and, during the 1980s, had songs featured in the opening sequences of Globo soap operas.
