Most of the members came from Vila dos Comerciários, a poor neighborhood in Recife. The core formed in 1968, when bassist Almir de Oliveira met singer Marco Polo; as Tamarineira Village, they played in Salvador, Natal and João Pessoa in 1973, and changed their name on the advice of a fortune-teller. With Ivson Wanderley, Paulo Rafael, Israel Semente and Agrício Noya, they recorded the LP Ave Sangria in Rio. It was released in June 1974 and withdrawn by the censors in August because of "Seu Waldir." The December shows at Teatro de Santa Isabel, released in 2014 as Perfumes y Baratchos, brought this phase to an end. The band returned in 2014 and released Vendavais in 2019.
