Novos Baianos

Their first performance together took place in Salvador, in a show called Desembarque dos Bichos Depois do Dilúvio, in 1969 according to Wikipedia and in 1968 according to the Dicionário Cravo Albin. The core lineup brought together lyricist Luiz Galvão, Moraes Moreira, Baby Consuelo, Paulinho Boca de Cantor and Pepeu Gomes. The name emerged at the V Festival da Record, where they performed De Vera: still unnamed, they were called to the stage as aqueles novos baianos. They released a single on RGE and, in 1970, the LP É Ferro na Boneca, which crossed psychedelic rock with Brazilian rhythms and sold poorly. Communal life in Rio, the influence of João Gilberto and Acabou Chorare followed. The group disbanded in 1979.
