Os Tincoãs

A trio from Cachoeira, in the Recôncavo region of Bahia, named after a bird, the tincoã. The group debuted in 1960 on TV Itapoã, with Erivaldo, Heraldo and Dadinho singing boleros, the repertoire of its first record, which went almost unnoticed. In 1963, Mateus Aleluia replaced Erivaldo, and the group changed direction, arranging candomblé chants and sambas de roda for multiple voices. The 1973 LP brought together this Afro-Bahian repertoire, with songs for Iansã, Obaluaê and Iemanjá. Heraldo died in 1975 and was replaced by Morais and later by Badu. In 1983, Mateus and Dadinho settled in Luanda; an album recorded that year was released only in 2023, as Canto Coral Afrobrasileiro.
