Raulzito e os Panteras

Before becoming Raul Seixas, the Bahia-born Raulzito led this group, which began as The Panthers and later changed its name to the Portuguese equivalent. With Eládio Gilbraz, Mariano Lanat and Carleba, the band accompanied singers from the Jovem Guarda, Brazil's 1960s rock'n'roll wave, including Jerry Adriani and Roberto Carlos; it was Adriani who invited them to try their luck in Rio. Their only LP, recorded at the end of 1967, was released by Odeon in early 1968, with eight of its twelve tracks credited to Raulzito and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" transformed into "Você Ainda Pode Sonhar". It sold poorly, and the group broke up. Raul would not reach a broad audience until 1973, with Krig-ha, Bandolo!.
