Hyldon

Hyldon de Souza Silva was born in Salvador in 1951 and grew up in the state of Rio, where, as a teenager, he played dances in Niterói with Os Abelhas, encouraged by his cousin Pedrinho da Luz, guitarist for Fevers. In 1969, he played with Os Diagonais, the group formed by Cassiano, Camarão, and Amaro, served as guitarist for Tony Tornado and Wilson Simonal, and produced records at Polydor in the early 1970s. His debut single, led by "Na rua, na chuva, na fazenda," took off after DJ Big Boy played it. Deus, a Natureza e a Música, from 1976, was made with musicians from Azymuth and features lyrics by Caetano Veloso on "Primeira pessoa do singular." Alongside Tim Maia and Cassiano, he ranks among the pioneers of Brazilian soul.
