Joyce

Joyce Silveira Moreno was born in Rio in 1948 and grew up in Copacabana, the daughter of a Brazilian mother and a Danish father. She first recorded in 1964, as part of a vocal quartet on Pacífico Mascarenhas's album Sambacana. In 1967, Me Disseram qualified for the II Festival Internacional da Canção, and the following year Philips released Joyce, her debut, on which she alone wrote five of the ten tracks, as well as one in partnership with Jards Macalé. She replaced Toquinho alongside Vinicius de Moraes on tours of Latin America and Europe; in Brazil, her peak came with Clareana and the 1980 album Feminina. Her songs have been recorded by Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento and Annie Lennox.
