Ronnie Von

Ronaldo Nogueira, from Niterói, sang blues and gospel in the nightclubs of Beco das Garrafas; in 1965, he sang Meu Bem on television, his version of Girl by the Beatles, and recorded his first record that same year. Nicknamed Pequeno Príncipe, he received his own program on TV Record in 1966, O Pequeno Mundo de Ronnie Von, where Os Mutantes made their debut. In 1967, the year of the LP Ronnie Von nº 3, he found success with A Praça. From 1968 onward, he exchanged innocence for psychedelic and experimental arrangements, a period that includes A Máquina Voadora (Polydor, 1970); these records sold poorly at the time and have been rediscovered by new listeners. He later established a career as a television host.
