A Bolha

Renato and César Ladeira, sons of radio broadcaster César Ladeira and actress Renata Fronzi, formed the band in Rio under the name The Bubbles, playing covers at dances around the city. Pedro Lima and Arnaldo Brandão joined in 1968, and the sound grew heavier; in 1970, Gustavo Schroeter took over on drums. They served as the backing band for Gal Costa, Raul Seixas and Erasmo Carlos. When they began writing their own material, they adopted the name A Bolha and released Um Passo à Frente in 1973, followed by É Proibido Fumar in 1977. They broke up in 1978; former members later played with A Cor do Som and Roupa Nova. Reunited in the 2000s, they recorded É Só Curtir.
