Bixo da Seda

The band emerged in Porto Alegre in 1967, in the working-class Vila do IAPI neighborhood, under the name Liverpool and with a repertoire of English rock covers. In 1968, it won a university festival in the state capital with Carlinhos Hartlieb's Por Favor, Sucesso and was subsequently signed by the small label Equipe in Rio, where it recorded an LP in 1969. As Liverpool Sound, it released the single Hei Menina in 1971 and disbanded the following year. Beginning in 1973, the former members regrouped as Bixo da Seda, a name suggested by guitarist Zé Vicente Brizola, and returned to Rio. The self-titled 1976 LP leaned toward progressive rock, with Renato Ladeira, formerly of A Bolha, on keyboards.
