Laranja Freak

Laranja Freak emerged in Porto Alegre in 1997 and named its own sound "música psicodélica frenética": a blend of jovem guarda (Brazil’s 1960s rock ’n’ roll wave), psychedelia, and rock. Entre as Moléculas, from 2002, was released by Migué Records shortly after an independent debut. The band released Brasas Lisérgicas through Baratos Afins in 2004; it was nominated for that year’s Dynamite award for best rock album. It performed at festivals such as Bananada, in Goiás, and the Senhor F nights. It also appeared on compilations including Brazilian Peebles II and The Rough Guide to Psychedelic Brazil, and its track "Sempre livre" was featured on the soundtracks of short films by Marco Martins.
