Grupo Cata Luzes

Formed in Aracaju in 1982, Cata Luzes began as a vocal and instrumental group, with Cláudio Miguel and Valdefrê on vocals and acoustic guitars, Tonho Amaral on percussion, and José Amaral on vocals and percussion. It won the first edition of the Festival de Música Popular Sergipana, held in the 1980s, and in 1983 independently recorded the LP Viagem Cigana, with arrangements and conducting by Paulo Moura and musicians including Jacques Morelembau, Joel Nascimento, and Túlio Mourão. The group remained active for decades: it released Sangue d'Alma in 2001, toured Portugal in 2007, and recorded Voltar à Aldeia in 2012.
