Guilherme Lamounier

A grandson of composer Gastão Lamounier, Rio de Janeiro native Guilherme Lamounier (1950–2018) grew up in Grajaú and began with D.D. Sharp, a group based at the neighborhood club, winning a festival with "Seu melhor amigo." In 1970, he released his first LP on Odeon, featuring songs written with Carlos Imperial, and sang at the V Festival Internacional da Canção; in film, he appeared in Capitães de Areia. The 1973 record consists entirely of collaborations with Tibério Gaspar. His songs appeared on soap opera soundtracks and were recorded by other performers, while "Enrosca" and "Seu melhor amigo," two of his greatest successes, reached a broad audience in the voice of Fábio Jr. He died in Rio in 2018 after being hospitalized with pneumonia.
