Karma

Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1972, Karma played rock rural, Brazil’s country-inflected rock, and included Jorge Amiden, a guitarist who had played with O Terço and used a three-necked instrument, and Luiz Mendes Junior on guitar and vocals. That same year, the band performed Depois do Porão at the Festival Internacional da Canção and recorded its only LP for RCA Victor, with string and brass arrangements by Arthur Verocai and guest appearances by Oberdan Magalhães on flute and Rildo Hora on harmonica. The album returned to stores in a reissue curated by Charles Gavin and was included in the book Lindo Sonho Delirante, which lists 100 psychedelic albums from Brazil.
