Milton Nascimento

Milton Nascimento was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1942 and, adopted as a young child, was raised in Três Pontas, Minas Gerais. He received a small accordion at the age of four and, as a teenager, was already singing as a dance-band crooner alongside Wagner Tiso. In 1963 he moved to Belo Horizonte, where he met Fernando Brant and the Borges brothers; his friendship with Lô Borges would give rise to Clube da Esquina, the Minas Gerais songwriting collective. In 1967 he placed second at the Festival Internacional da Canção with Travessia, earning him a contract with producer Creed Taylor in the United States. The LP Milton, held in this collection, was released by EMI in 1970. He retired from the stage in 2022.
