Os Vips

Ronald and Márcio Antonucci, both from São Paulo, each sang on his own—as Ronald Red and Jett Williams—until they formed a duo in 1964 and borrowed their name from a film, The Vips. Signed to Continental, they made their recording debut with "Tonight," on a compilation from the TV show Reino da Juventude. They found success with Beatles adaptations such as "Menina Linda," and with songs by Roberto Carlos, including "A Volta," a track from their 1966 LP. They moved to CBS in 1968, returned to Continental as Márcio e Ronaldo and separated in 1976, when Márcio became a producer at Som Livre. In 1990 they reunited for a live album. Márcio died in 2014; Ronald, in 2024.
