Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra

Zé Rodrix, Luiz Carlos Sá and Guttemberg Guarabyra formed the trio in 1971, shortly after Rodrix left Som Imaginário. The other two already had well-known songs: Sá had Giramundo, recorded by Peri Ribeiro in 1966; Guarabyra had Margarida, winner of the 1967 Festival Internacional da Canção. Their blend of rock and música caipira became known as rock rural, a Brazilian country-rock style. Odeon released Passado, Presente, Futuro in 1972 and Terra in 1973. That year, Rodrix left, and the other two continued as a duo. The trio reunited decades later (1999 according to Portuguese-language Wikipedia, 2001 according to the other sources) and remained together until Rodrix's death in 2009.
