14 Bis

14 Bis was formed in Belo Horizonte in late 1979 by Hely Rodrigues, Vermelho, Sérgio Magrão and the brothers Cláudio and Flávio Venturini. Flávio and Magrão came from O Terço, while Vermelho and Hely came from Bendegó, and the name honors Santos Dumont’s airplane. With Milton Nascimento as its patron and producer, the group signed with EMI and debuted that same year with the LP 14 Bis, which featured the previously unreleased Canção da América, written by him and Fernando Brant. Several albums followed during the 1980s, until Flávio left in 1987 to pursue a solo career.
