Eduardo Araújo

The son of a farmer from the Minas Gerais countryside, Eduardo Araújo began singing rock in Belo Horizonte and, in 1960, performed on the radio with Aldair Pinto. That same year he went to Rio and appeared on Hoje É Dia de Rock and Clube do Rock, but the limited response led him back to Minas. He returned in 1966 on the momentum of the Jovem Guarda, Brazil’s 1960s rock’n’roll wave, and scored a hit with O Bom, also the name of the show he hosted with Silvinha on TV Excelsior; the two married in 1969. Produced by Tim Maia, A Onda É Boogaloo placed him among the pioneers of soul in Brazil. In the 1980s he moved into country music.
