Beto Guedes

Alberto de Castro Guedes was born in Montes Claros (MG) on August 13, 1951, the son of composer Godofredo Guedes. He played in bands from his teenage years and, in 1970, took the song Feira Moderna to the V Festival Internacional da Canção. Associated with Clube da Esquina, the Minas Gerais musical collective, he played bass, guitar, 12-string guitar and percussion on the 1972 album that gave the circle its name. In 1973, he shared an LP with Novelli, Toninho Horta and Danilo Caymmi. His solo debut, A Página do Relâmpago Elétrico, was released by EMI-Odeon in 1977 and sold beyond expectations; the following year, the title track of Amor de Índio became the greatest success of his career.
