Blow Up

Blow-Up was formed in 1965 in Macuco, a neighborhood of Santos, initially under the name The Black Cats, playing in bars and clubs around the region in the wake of the Jovem Guarda, Brazil's 1960s rock'n'roll wave. In 1968, since another group already used that name, the musicians adopted the title of Michelangelo Antonioni's film. Caravelle released two LPs simply titled Blow Up, in 1969 and 1971; the second became known as Expresso 21. They also appeared in the film Se Meu Dólar Falasse. On Philips, in 1976, they scored a hit with Rainbow on the soundtrack of the soap opera Anjo Mau. They ended their activities in 1988 and later returned to performing in Santos.
