Joelho de Porco

The name came from a joke by Fabio Gasparini, who had eaten eisbein at a German restaurant and proposed the dish as the name for a school festival in 1966. The familiar lineup, however, did not take shape until 1972 in São Paulo, with Tico Terpins and Próspero Albanese at its core. The first single, from 1973, was produced by Arnaldo Baptista, formerly of Mutantes, who also played minimoog. Short of money, the group rented Rogério Duprat's Vice-Versa studio at night, when it was cheaper, to record São Paulo 1554/Hoje, released in 1976 and dedicated to Aracy de Almeida. With the Italian-Argentine Billy Bond on vocals, the band recorded for Som Livre in 1978 and returned in the 1980s with Zé Rodrix.
