Patrulha do Espaço was formed in São Paulo in 1977 (the Dicionário Cravo Albin records 1973) around former Mutantes member Arnaldo Baptista, with drummer Rolando Castello Júnior, Irish guitarist John Flavin and bassist Oswaldo Gennari. The name came from the subtitle of an instrumental track on Lóki, Arnaldo's album, and the band made its debut at Ginásio do Ibirapuera in September 1977. After Arnaldo's departure, with Percy Weiss on vocals, the band recorded Disco Preto, regarded as the first independent recording in Brazilian rock. It later became a hard-rock trio and opened for Van Halen in 1983. The self-titled LP in the collection was released by Baratos Afins and is dated 1980 on MusicBrainz.
