Secos e Molhados

Created in São Paulo in the early 1970s by Portuguese-born journalist João Ricardo, Secos & Molhados reached its defining lineup with Gérson Conrad and Ney Matogrosso, who was introduced to the group by composer Luli. Painted faces and glitter, particularly on Ney, created an androgynous atmosphere unusual in Brazil at the time, while his high-pitched voice gave the group a distinct identity. The group set poems by Vinicius de Moraes, Cassiano Ricardo and João Ricardo's father, João Apolinário, to music, and its 1973 debut LP sold 800 thousand copies according to Cravo Albin, or more than one million according to Wikipedia. In 1974, the trio filled Maracanãzinho, and a recording of that concert became a live album on Continental. The second album arrived later in 1974, and the lineup disbanded.
